I must admit, I don’t look forward to cold, snow and ice. Winter in Chicago is NOT my favorite season. And even though it’s over a month away on the calendar, it has been rearing it’s ugly head this week. Burrrr! This little painting helps me grin and bear it. I can fool myself into thinking winter is cute and fun!
I came home from Las Vegas and was greeted by 30 degree weather and snow on the ground ! I wasn’t expecting that. if it was December, I might have welcomed it. I better get used to it. Time to break out the gloves and scarves. This little painting illustrates how nice it is to be home–no matter the weather.
Winter is coming! Yikes! We had our first real freeze last night and today’s high will only be in the 40’s. After over 35 years in the Chicago area, (I’m originally from hot, dry Las Vegas), you would think I would be used to the cold, but I’m not. I just grin and bear it. The good news is that on cold days I can flip a switch and have an instant gas fire in my sitting/sewing room. I LOVE my fireplace. I’m even guilty of opening a window on cooler days so the room will get cold enough to turn my fireplace on. Is that crazy or what?
What do you like about winter?
After almost a year without any significant snowfall in the Chicago area, today we were treated to some beautiful snowfall. This is the view out my front door. As much as I hate shoveling snow, I couldn’t help but marvel at the beautiful scene out of every window. I stayed warm and toasty inside and gazed out at my “winter wonderland”.
