I’ve been having fun with my watercolors today. Lately it’s experimenting with spots and speckles. I see others creating fabulous backgrounds with oils, so I tried to create something interesting with watercolor. I first tried the technique with the background only, but then it spilled over into the bird and flower. I’m not sure about the final verdict, but I think I will keep experimenting. Any thoughts?
The title of this little painting is taken from an old hymn by the same name. I have sung it often in church since I was a child. I hear the melody in my head as I read the words:
In a world where sorrow
Ever will be known,
Where are found the needy
And the sad and lone,
How much joy and comfort
You can all bestow,
If you scatter sunshine
Ev’rywhere you go.
Scatter sunshine all along your way.
Cheer and bless and brighten
Ev’ry passing day.
There are more verses, but this will do. We all have the power to lift others up or drag them down. I find it is so easy to be negative and it becomes a habit. Being positive, at least for me, has to be a conscience choice. I for one would like to “scatter sunshine all along [my] way”
How about you?
I recently quilted this small wallhanging for my friend, Marge.
I quilted a variety of feathers, circles and straight lines to add interest.
More freehand patterns in the red.
Marge added this three-dimensional fabric flower.
Small projects that can be finished in a reasonable amount of time are fun to do.
