Day 5: Red House on a Hill

Not a very original title, I know.  I wish I had more time to do something wonderful.  This one has some flaws, and I’m not too excited about it, but at least I am keeping up with the challenge!  Only 25 days to go.   Blue sky courtesy of Picmonkey.

Quilt Show

Our guild has a quilt show every two years.  It’s a big deal.  Last October our show featured over 300 quilts.  If you have never been to a quilt show, you really should.  Talk about eye-candy!  You will see work that will blow your socks off.  And you will never think that “blanket” and “quilt” are interchangeable words again!

Day 24 Think Spring

For those of us in the northern part of the northern hemisphere, this winter has NOT been fun!  More below zero temperatures are coming and there seems no end in sight.  In times like this we must keep our chins up, stay inside and THINK SPRING!  We know it will come…. someday!  So today’s painting is one of optimism.

Day 15 A Pocket Full of Posies

Ring around the rosie, a pocket full of posies…..  I’ve had this image in my head for a while and thought I would paint my own “pocket” of flowers.  It just seemed to need a bunny also.  He’s looking for his Valentine.  Will he find her before it’s too late?

Day 4 But She Wanted Four!

After I drew and painted this, I wondered why this bunny looked so disappointed when she had 3 wonderful balloons?  Well, I could only reason that she was hoping for more!  This challenge is turning out to fun.  Now my paintings are talking to me!

Lil’ Lamb

I’ve been having fun painting a few pictures these last few days.  I’m away from home–away from my quilting machine– so this is my creative outlet while I’m visiting my Mom.  I can paint and visit with her at the same time, so it’s been great.  There’s no particular inspiration for this piece.  I just like houses and little critters, I guess.

Frosty and Friends

Winter is coming!  Yikes!  We had our first real freeze last night and today’s high will only be in the 40’s.  After over 35 years in the Chicago area, (I’m originally from hot, dry Las Vegas), you would think I would be used to the cold, but I’m not.  I just grin and bear it.  The good news is that on cold days I can flip a switch and have an instant gas fire in my sitting/sewing room.  I LOVE my fireplace.  I’m even guilty of opening a window on cooler days so the room will get cold enough to turn my fireplace on.  Is that crazy or what?

Here’s my latest snowman painting.  And coming from me, of course he is sporting a patchwork coat!  Image
