Hi! I’m Pam, a professional quilter, self taught artist and music teacher now back residing in my hometown: Las Vegas, NV, USA.

For several years I have been a professional quilter which has taught me a lot about color and design. But the visual artist in me needed expression. So I started this blog in January of 2013 to showcase my quilting AND now my paintings. Watercolor is my medium. I strive to make my work whimsical and happy. There’s enough serious stuff in this world. I want people to smile when they see my creations. I also currently work full-time as an elementary school music teacher (my first passion). Currently I’m struggling to find the time for all the things I love to do!

I have been a creative person all my life and have always liked making things. My mother, a professional seamstress, got me interested in sewing at a very young age.

My first machine I received on my 5th birthday.

I got my first real sewing machine(a Singer featherweight) when I was just 10 years old and I have been sewing ever since.

But when I acquired my APQS Long Arm machine, my quilting adventure really took off!

I even watch quilt shows while I’m quilting!

I love to design my own patterns as well. I made this wallhanging for the silent auction at my guild’s quilt show. Watch for a tutorial on how to make this show up on my blog soon.

As an adult, I started quilting over 30 years ago. I have been a professional long-arm quilter (I did quilt finishing for clients) for 8 years. I “draw” a lot with my machine which is why I think it has been easy for me to transition to a painting. My designs (at least right now) are highly influenced by quilting motifs. You can see more of my free-hand quilting work at pamsquilting.com. I’ve been married to David for almost 38 years. We have two grown sons and one daughter in law. Family is very important to me. Pieced by Pam, Quilted by Pam. All the fabric came from my stash. Made this after taking a workshop taught by Pepper Cory on the Drunkard’s Path block.

Nicole’s Quilt

Made another with the same pattern for my niece Nicole’s wedding.

I designed and made this quilt for my son, Scott when he married Robyn.

My niece April and husband Brandon are enjoying their wedding quilt. April picked the colors and I designed this simple quilt then did some fun custom quilting.

Here are a couple more quilts I made for our guild’s quilt show.

So I decided that if I can quilt fancy designs, I can certainly draw them. Here’s a quilterly doodle!
