Susie is one big bunny! She has to be to heft this instrument. I’m a little worried about the bird though–her hearing can’t be too good because sousaphones are loud!
The sousaphone is a brass instrument, related to the tuba. It’s mostly used in marching band Designed so that it fits around the body of the musician and is supported by the left shoulder, the sousaphone may be readily played while being carried. The instrument is named after American bandmaster and composer John Philip Sousa, who popularized its use in his band.
Now you know!
Poor little birdie! He should be wearing ear protection. I am truly enjoying your art and lessons in band instruments, Pam. A Sousaphone, who woulda thought?!

Me, I guess! I inherited a couple of old ones at the last school where I taught. I couldn’t get any of the kids interested in playing them and they just took up a lot of space.

Like you said it would take a special kind of Big person to want to haul that thing around!
