You may not know I’m a sax player. I played in various jazz bands all through high school and college. Playing the sax took me all across the US, Canada and even Romania and Bulgaria. I played my sax at a resort on the Black Sea. I even played in a back up band for jazz great, Dizzy Gillespie at my local community college. I’m certainly not any where near a professional, but I had lots of good times with my sax. Unfortunately, I don’t play much any more.
This little painting gave me way too much grief today! For some reason, my materials just seemed to be working against me. And it took way too long when I needed to be at my quilting machine. It came out sloppier than I intended. Well, there’s always tomorrow!
Watercolor on 300 lb hot pressed paper 8″x 10″
No sloppiness to me. I am so impressed Pam!!! i always wanted to learn to play the sax. You are so cool! No, really, you are!

I don’t know that my middle school band students thought I was very cool–far from it. But I will admit that the sax is a way cool instrument.

This looks perfect…one could never tell that it didn’t flow for you. Love hearing this story. It’s amazing some of the things we did when we were young. Like Sheila said, You are so cool! 🙂

It’s almost like we’ve become different people when we grew up! Nevertheless, I don’t believe my 20 year old self would be very surprised with what I’m doing now.

Very good. We have a tenor in the back of our car right now, being delivered to Son tomorrow. He, also, doesn’t play much anymore. But he’d like to get back into it. (YAY!!)

Do you still have your instruments? Are there any community bands? We have a couple different groups “ordinary” people can join.

Yes, I still have a couple of clarinets, an alto Sax and a trumpet. There is a community band right in my town. But I hate to go out at night–especially in the winter. I wish there was a daytime band for us old timers!

I love listening to a sax and would have loved to have learned to play – just don’t think I’d find the time now. Soooo impressed with your playing!! And I think the painting is great!!

Thanks so much. Yeah, I really should get my sax out but it’s not that fun to play alone.
