Yes, it’s time for another painting challenge starting Monday, September 1st. I will join 700 other artists and attempt to paint 30 paintings in 30 days. Of course that means painting small. Most of my little art is only 4″ x 4″ or 5″ x 7″. I like to paint on Ampersand Aquabord with watercolors. It is a sturdy panel with an absorbent surface. I thought I would get ahead of the game and start to draw a few things. These are still in the ink stage. Next I will add color with watercolors. Then I spray them with multiple coats of varnish to make the color permanent. Before I start drawing on the aquabord, I sketch some ideas on paper. I thought you would like to see some pages in one of my sketchbooks. These are real rough sketches–and they all don’t become paintings. I just kick the ideas around for awhile. I am somewhat embarrassed to show these, but maybe you will see that I’m just doodling, really.
Well now you have had a peek into the process of a “not so fine” artist! I will start posting finished paintings on Monday, September 1st. If you want to see daily art from hundreds of other (real) artists who have signed up for the challenge, check out artist Leslie Saeta’s blog at lesliesaeta.blogspot.com
Yipee! Can’t wait to see them. Oh you put me to shame. I have nothing prepped…. finishing up a class, but I was hoping to have a few started. High five to you Pamela!

Thanks, Sheila. I can’t wait to see new art from all my challenge friends. If I was really on the ball, I’d have these painted. I couldn’t NOT sign up for this challenge, but I also have quite a stack of quilts that I need to finish for customers this next month. Somehow it will all get done.

I love giving the impression that I am “on the ball”! I may be good for the first few days, but then it will catch up with me, no doubt. But I am looking forward to painting and blogging more again.

The doodles are fun to see. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve asked before, I think, but tell me again… have you thought of doing greeting cards? I would buy them!

Actually I do have a set of “bunny” cards in my Etsy shop. And I have some others that were printed that I never put into my shop. Thanks for reminding me–I’ll have to take care of that! (my Etsy shop is BluePumpkinStudio.com)
